Itinerary
Day 1: Jinja or Kampala – Lake Mburo National Park
Depart Jinja or Kampala early for Lake Mburo National Park, stopping for lunch along the way. Arrive in the afternoon with game drive on route to camp. Watching the sunset, with a cold drink and having dinner at the lakeside restaurant is a nice end to the day. You might be lucky enough to spot hippo grazing on the shores. Overnight in the National Park.

Accommodation: camping, bandas or permanent tents all with shared bathroom.

Day 2: Lake Mburo – Gorilla Trek Point
After breakfast, enjoy an early morning game drive, then depart the National Park. You will stop in the town of Kabale for lunch and to pick up any supplies you need for the coming days. Proceed to your ‘trek point’ accommodation for dinner and overnight. No matter where your group departure point is, the scenery through this area of Uganda is spectacular. The rolling green hills, cliffs, huts, farms and children waving, create a wonderful backdrop for this experience.

Accommodation: Accommodation can be determined when we have secured a permit. When you get to your accommodation, if required, please arrange your packed lunch for your gorilla trek.

Day 3: Gorilla Trek
This is the day you have been waiting for. Depending on your trek start point and which accommodation you are staying in will depend on the time you will have breakfast and depart. Just remember to prearrange your packed lunch to take with you.

You will depart your accommodation to arrive at your trek start point for your registration and briefing at 07:45. At around 08:30 you will depart on your trek. Trekking time varies group to group, and day to day. It is important to take lunch and enough drinking water for the whole day. Most groups are back at the start point by around 15:00.

After your trek you will return to your accommodation for a much deserved shower, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Gorilla Trek Point – Jinja/Kampala/Kabale
After breakfast, depart for your elected drop of point. This can be either Kabale (if you wish to continue into Rwanda with public transport), Kampala (if you need to go to the airport in Entebbe or are travelling elsewhere in Uganda), or Jinja (if you wish to enjoy some more days at this equally relaxing and activity-packed destination, or catch a bus back to Kenya).

Special notes
This itinerary is designed purely for people who are on a very tight schedule and do not have time to enjoy any other sights in Uganda - or really just want to only see the gorillas. All of these days are long. particularly days 1, 2 and 4 which are long days in the vehicle.

This is the quickest amount of time that we would recommend attempting a gorilla trek starting and/or ending from Kampala or Jinja. The driving days will be long and do not really allow for much sight-seeing or unscheduled stops. We recommend spending two days to drive to the trek point, because less time than this allows no margin for error – traffic, road conditions, vehicle problems, etc - and you can arrive for your trek already tired.

You are able to start this safari from either Jinja or Kampala at a designated meeting place. Until we have secured your permit, we are not able to tell you the exact accommodation that you will have. This is because there are five different ‘trek departure points’ for the eight gorilla groups. Surprisingly there can be up to a five hour drive between them.

While no meals are included in the cost of this itinerary, your driver will know where to stop to assist you in buying lunch and all accommodation spots have a reasonably priced restaurant attached.

Transport, accommodation, gorilla permit, park fees, transport, driver, vehicle.

Not included
Personal insurance, visas, items of a personal nature, drinks, meals (your driver will assist you in arranging all meals), boat rides or other activities mentioned as optional extras, local guide fees for extra activies, tips.
