Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi - Masai Mara
We depart in the morning initially heading North from Nairobi, stopping for magnifi cent views over the Great Rift Valley. We then begin our descent West over the escarpment and drive along the fl oor of the Rift Valley to the Masai town of Narok. After a stop for lunch, we proceed to the Masai Mara Game Reserve with game viewing enroute to the overnight camp. And don't forget the Masai Mara is not fenced and that you can look out for animals not long after departing Narok. The Masai Mara Conservancy supports extensive wildlife and is a migration corridor to other parks and reserves.

Day 2: Masai Mara
Enjoy a full day game viewing with picnic lunch on the Mara River over-looking the Hippo Pools and the Serengeti. One of Kenya's premier reserves, the Masai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti and world famous for the spectacular migration of thousands of wildebeest and zebra during the months of July and October. The Mara is also rich in resident game with over 95 species recorded. These include the "big fi ve" - elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino - as well as giraffe, hippo, cheetah, hyena, hippo and numerous species of antelope. The reserve is also rich in birdlife with over 480 species recorded in recent times. Return to camp for dinner and overnight stay.

If you are visiting during the migration period and wish to view this amazing spectical more extensively, we would suggest adding an extra day in the Masai Mara.

Day 3: Masai Mara - Nakuru
After breakfast we undertake a short morning game drive or you have the option of taking a walk with the moran to visit a local manyatta and learn a little about the life of a nomadic pasturalist. Then depart the Mara and proceed via Narok to the Rift Valley town of Nakuru, where we arrive late afternoon. Overnight and dinner at the camp or hotel close to Nakuru.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru - Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, enter Lake Nakuru National Park, which is famous for the thousands of fl amingo that inhabit the shores of the lake. In recent times, the water level of the lake has fl uctuated greatly and this has affected the numbers of resident fl amingos. Although perhaps most importantly, the Reserve has been established as a rhino sanctuary and black and white rhino are frequently seen on game drives - along with buffalo, lion, giraffe, waterbuck, and the elusive leopard. Picnic lunch in the park, then mid afternoon, depart for Lake Naivasha. We pass through Naivasha town and drive around the Southern end of the lake, past the fl ower farms to Fisherman's camp. We arrive in time to enjoy an hour-long boatride on Lake Naivasha where you can spot hippo as well as many varieties of birds which live around the lake. Return to camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Lake Naivasha - Crater Lake - Elsemere
After breakfast, we depart from Fisherman's camp and drive the short distance past Lake Olodien to the entrance of the Crater Lake Conservancy. We will take the short climb up to the rim of the beautiful volcanic crater for views down to the emerald-green crater lake. In recent times, fl amingo populations have boomed here, having migrated from Lake Nakuru. Then with your guide you can walk through the conservancy area trekking after plains animals including giraffe, zebra, eland, gazelle and antelope - while admiring the various species of birds and plants.

Around lunchtime, we will proceed to Elsemere, home to the late Joy and George Adamson, of Born Free fame. This is now a conservation centre and museum where you will enjoy a delicious lunch in their beautiful gardens. You may even have the pleasure of the company of a family of black and white colobus monkeys, as well as a variety of birds - who also have a sweet tooth! After lunch you will enjoy an hour-long boat ride on Lake Naivasha where you can spot hippos as well as a variety of birds common to this area. Then relax and enjoy the tranquil surrounds, or take a walk with your guide around the various nature trails. Late afternoon, return to Fisherman's Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Lake Naivasha - Hell's Gate - Nairobi
Depart from Fisherman's camp and drive the short distance to the entrance of Hell's Gate National Park. Soon after you enter the park the impressive landscape unfolds before you, and you are transported to a dramatic, semi-arid world, with sheer rugged cliffs, open plains and deep concealed gorges. There are many activities you can do within Hell's Gate including, walking, cycling, rock climbing, bird watching and trekking through the gorge amongst the geysers - the choice is yours. Picnic lunch in the park. Late afternoon we depart Hell's Gate for Nairobi.
