6 Days Masai Mara & Lake Nakuru - drive & camp

Itinerary
Basically this is the same safari as the 4 Day Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru - but in reverse and with 2 walking days added. So on the 4th day you will be dropped with your host Masai family's village, which will be your base to start your walk and bush camping. This is the best way to experience the life of one of Africa's most colourful tribes.

Day 1: Nairobi - Masai Mara
We depart in the morning initially heading north from Nairobi, stopping for magnificent views over the Great Rift Valley. We then begin our descent west over the escarpment and drive along the floor of the Rift Valley to the Masai town of Narok. After a stop for lunch, we proceed to the Masai Mara Game Reserve with game viewing enroute to the overnight camp. And don’t forget the Masai Mara is not fenced and that you can look out for animals not long after departing Narok. The Masai Mara Conservancy supports extensive wildlife and is a migration corridor to other parks.

Day 2: Masai Mara
Enjoy a full day game viewing with picnic lunch on the Mara River over-looking the Hippo Pools and the Serengeti. One of Kenya’s premier reserves, the Masai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti and world famous for the spectacular migration of thousands of wildebeest and zebra during the months of July and October. The Mara is also rich in resident game with over 95 species recorded including the ‘Big Five’ - elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino - as well as giraffe, cheetah, hyena and numerous species of antelope. The Reserve is also rich in birdlife with over 480 species. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Masai Mara - Nakuru
After breakfast we undertake a short morning game drive or you have the option of taking a walk with the Masai to visit a local manyatta and learn a little about the life of a nomadic pasturalist.
Then we depart the Mara and proceed via Narok to the Rift Valley town of Nakuru, where we arrive late afternoon. Overnight and dinner at the camp or hotel close to Nakuru National Park.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru - Masai Mara Conservency
After breakfast we undertake a short morning game drive before heading out of the Park to a local Masai village. After meeting the family you will start walking towards your first nights camp. On the way your Masai guides will tell you about their family, how they live, the Masai Mara, animal - and anything else that you want to know.
Arrive at camp and set up for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Masai Mara Conservency walk with Masai
After breakfast we pack up camp and proceed on our walk to the Maji Moto hot springs. Maji Moto literally means ‘hot water’ in swahili. We camp not far from the springs and you can have a warm bath before retiring for the night.

Day 6: Masai Mara Conservency - Nairobi
After breakfast we pack up camp and walk the short distance to the pick-up point. We stop for lunch on route, returning to Nairobi by late afternoon.

Included:
Transport to/from Nairobi, park entry fees, campsite fees, camping equipment, meals while on safari, guide/driver, masai guide, porters.

Not included:
Personal insurance, visas, sleeping bag, items of a personal nature, sodas and alcohol.

Don’t forget to bring:
Sleeping bag, sunhat, sunscreen, insect repellent, warm fleece, camera, torch, binoculars, drinking water, walking shoes.
