Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi - Masai Mara
We depart in the morning initially heading North from Nairobi, stopping for magnifi cent views over the Great Rift Valley. We then begin our descent West over the escarpment and drive along the fl oor of the Rift Valley to the Masai town of Narok. After a stop for lunch, we proceed to the Masai Mara Game Reserve with game viewing enroute to the overnight camp.

And don't forget the Masai Mara is not fenced and that you can look out for animals not long after departing Narok. The Masai Mara Conservancy supports extensive wildlife and is a migration corridor to other parks and reserves.

Day 2: Masai Mara
Enjoy a full day game viewing with picnic lunch on the Mara River over-looking the Hippo Pools and the Serengeti. One of Kenya's premier reserves, the Masai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti and world famous for the spectacular migration of thousands of wildebeest and zebra during the months of July and October. The Mara is also rich in resident game with over 95 species recorded. These include the 'Big Five' - elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino - as well as giraffe, cheetah, hyena and numerous species of antelope. The Reserve is also rich in birdlife with over 480 species recorded in recent times. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

It is worth noting that if you are visiting during the migration period and wish to view this amazing spectical more extensively, we would suggest adding an extra day in the Masai Mara.

Day 3: Masai Mara - Lake Nakuru
After breakfast we undertake a short morning game drive or you have the option of taking a walk with the moran to visit a local manyatta and learn a little about the life of a nomadic pasturalist.

Then we depart the Mara and proceed via Narok to the Rift Valley town of Nakuru, where we arrive late afternoon. Overnight and dinner at the camp or hotel close to Nakuru National Park.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru - Lake Naivasha
After an early breakfast, enter Lake Nakuru National Park, which is famous for the thousands of fl amingo that inhabit the shores of the lake. In recent times, the water levels of the lake has fluctuated greatly and this has affected the numbers of resident fl amingos. Although perhaps most importantly, the park has been successful in reintroducing many endangered species including black and white rhino, Rothchild giraffe and the elusive leopard - all of which are frequently seen on game drives. You can spot these along with buffalo, lion, zebra, waterbuck, gazelle, impala, hyrax and hippo.

Picnic lunch in the park, then mid afternoon, depart for Lake Naivasha. We pass through Naivasha town and drive around the southern end of the lake, past the fl ower farms to Fisherman's camp for dinner and overnight stay.

You might hear hippos grunting in the night as they graze on a grass at the camp - luckily, the're on the other side of the fence

Day 5: Lake Naivasha - Crater Lake - Elsemere - Nairobi
After breakfast, we depart from Fisherman's camp and drive the short distance past Lake Olodien to the entrance of the Crater Lake Conservancy. We will take the short climb up to the rim of the beautiful volcanic crater for views down to the emerald-green crater lake. In recent times, flamingo populations have boomed here, having migrated from Lake Nakuru. Then with your guide you can walk through the conservancy area trekking after plains animals including giraffe, zebra, eland, gizelle and antelope - while admiring the various species of birds and plants.

Around lunchtime, we will proceed to Elsemere, home to the late Joy and George Adamson, of Born Free fame. This is now a conservation centre and museum where you will be able to watch a video about the Adamsons and their conservancy work, before enjoying a delicious lunch in their beautiful gardens. And don't worry, you won't be alone - you may have the pleasure of the company of a family of black and white colobus monkeys, as well as a variety of birds - who also have a sweet tooth!

After lunch you will enjoy an hour-long boat ride on Lake Naivasha where you can spot hippos as well as a variety of birds common to this area. Then relax and enjoy the tranquil surrounds, or take a walk with your guide around the various nature trails.
