2 Day Hell's Gate & Lake Nakuru

Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi - Hell’s Gate - Lake Nakuru
Depart Nairobi and head north towards the Rift Valley town of Naivasha. On route we will stop for views across the Great Rift Valley, Mt Longonot and Lake Naivasha. We head around the southern end of Lake Naivasha, past the flower farms to the entrance of Hell’s Gate National Park. Soon after you enter the park the impressive landscape unfolds before you, and you are transported to a dramatic, semi-arid world, with sheer rugged cliffs, open plains and deep, concealed gorges. There are many activities you can do within Hell’s Gate including, walking, cycling, rock climbing, bird watching and trekking through the lower gorge amongst the geysers – the choice is yours. Picnic lunch in the park. Late afternoon we depart Hell’s Gate for Lake Nakuru. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Nakuru town.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru - Nairobi
After early breakfast, and with a picnic lunch, we enter Lake Nakuru National Reserve, which is famous for the thousands of flamingos that inhabit the shores of the lake. In recent times, the water level of the lake has fluctuated greatly and this has affected the numbers of resident flamingos. But most importantly, this Reserve has been established as a rhino sanctuary, and black and white rhino are frequently seen on game drives - along with buffalo, lion, Rothschild’s giraffe, waterbuck, and the elusive leopard. Mid afternoon, we depart for Nairobi.

personal insurance, visas, sleeping bag, items of a personal nature, sodas and alcohol.

Rock climbing costs only approx 500-1000/- ($7-15) per person, paid locally.

Don’t forget to bring
sunhat, sunscreen, insect repellent, warm fleece for cool evenings, camera, binoculars.
