2 Day Aberdares - Treetops

Enjoy a stay at one of the World’s most renowned wilderness lodges with amazing up-close experiences with many of the Africa’s ‘big five’. Nighttime is particularly spectacular, when it is possible to spot many animals which can elude you during daytime game drives.
Located in the middle of the Aberdares, Treetops appears to rise straight out of the ground on stilts. There are four decks to enjoy viewing game and an amazing rooftop platform which gives 360-degree views across the Aberdares, even to Mt Kenya. Treetops is not only legendry for the animals it attracts, but also for its royal connection. Amongst others, Queen Elizabeth has been a regular visitor, and you can see the history and memorabilia during your stay.

Compared with safari lodges, Treetops’ facilities are quite basic and the rooms are small, although with such spectacular wildlife viewing, you won’t be spending much time in your room. Each room has a buzzer which guests can activate to receive night-time animal alerts of their choice - so you won’t miss any memorable viewing opportunities. There is a resident naturist who gives talks and keeps a log showing the animals spotted each day. Treetops is due to be renovated in 2007.

Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi - Aberdares National Park
Depart Nairobi heading north past pineapple plantations and the Tana River to the fertile Mt Kenya region. After enjoying lunch at the Outspan Hotel, you will pack an overnight bag, and then be tranferred to Treetops in the Aberdares National Park. Once at Treetops, there are lots of activities to choose from including game drives, walking safaris and guided bird walks - or you can just enjoy the the views from one of four viewing decks. After dinner, settle in and enjoy viewing the procession of animals at your waterhole. Tea and coffe is available all night. Remember, once you are at Treetops you will not be able to leave unescorted as the property is unfenced.

Day 2: Aberdares National Park - Nairobi
We advise you raise early to catch some of the best viewing from the rear decks. You then have the opportunity to have an early morning walk or game drive before departing back to the Aberdare Country Club. After lunch, return to Nairobi.
