1 day Lake Nakuru National Park

Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi - Lake Nakuru - Nairobi

Depart at 06:00 from Nairobi and head north stopping for spectacular views over the great Rift Valley. Drive past Naivasha town, road-side markets, and Lake Elementiata.

Around 09:00 you will arrive at the entrance of Lake Nakuru National Park. During your game drive you will pass through acacia forest, open plains and can even drive down to the lake shore. For lunch, you can enjoy a picnic at Baboon Cliff which has spectacular views across the lake and surrounding areas. It is a great place to get those ‘National Geographic’ style photos with the blue lake and pink rim. If you are lucky you might see the Rock Hyrax who frequent the cliff face at the picnic spot. At around 15:00 you will depart from Nakuru, arriving in Nairobi around 18:00.

Note: while this is possible to do this as a day tour to Nakuru, you will not be in the park during early morning or late afternoon, which are the best times for viewing game.
