Half Day Nairobi Day Tour Itinerary There are two itineries to choose from: You will depart your Nairobi city hotel at 10:15 for the first of three stops during the day, which is the Sheldrick Elephant Orphange. Here you can get up close and learn about the complex life of baby elephants and the success the Sheldrick's orphanage is having raring these orphans and reintroducing them into Kenya's wild. We stay here for one hour during the baby's feeding time and you can watch them romp and play in the mud, while listening to the informative guides speak about the elephants and the work of the orphanage. From here we depart for the Langata Giraffe Centre (AFEW). You will have a unique opportunity to get up to eye-level with these gentle giants, handfeed them, and maybe even kiss one of the friendly girls! Once almost extinct, the endangered Rothschild giraffes are now being reintroduced into the National Parks and there is an education centre with lots of information about their breeding and preservation. Your guide can even take you for a walk through the nearby bush to find Jock - he can be surprisingly hard to spot even though he is six metres tall. The third stop of the day is at the Kazuri Beads. This is one of Kenya’s business success stories. Established in the 1980s, this pottery, ceramic and bead factory employs all single mothers to make its beautiful gifts and souvenirs - which are now exported all around the world. You can walk through the workshop and see the women making the ceramics at every stage. There is also a great gift shop. Now depending on which itinerary you choose you will now return to your hotel or make the final stop of the day at Karen Blixen's farm, which is now a museum. You will step back in time to Kenya's colonial past as you enter the old house made famous by the book, and then the movie Out of Africa. The gardens are beautiful and there are views to the surrounding Ngong Hills. It is certainly a must see for all Danes. You will be returned to your hotel by around 15:00.
