Day 1: Nairobi National Park - Sheldrake’s Elephant Orphanage - Langata Giraffe Centre

This day out will give you the opportunity to view all of the ‘big five’ within only 20 minutes drive from your hotel! This itinerary takes advantage of the best game viewing time in the Nairobi National Park (early morning), and then giving you other amazing up-close animal experiences and an opportunity to stretch your legs after the game drive.

Depart your hotel at 06:00, arriving at the Nairobi National Park at 06:30 for an early morning game drive. Depart the Park at 10:30 to visit the baby elephants at the Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage during feeding time. This is a great opportunity to get up close and learn about the success the Sheldrake’s are having rearing these orphans and reintroducing them into the wild.

We then proceed to the Langata Giraffe Centre. Once almost extinct, you can hand feed the endangered Rothschild giraffes. There is also an education centre with lots of information about breeding and preserving these gentle giants. Your guide can even take you for a walk through the bush to find Jock - he can be hard to spot even though he is six metres tall. Around 4pm, we will return to your hotel.
