Nyahururu & the Thompson Falls Nyahururu is next to Thompson falls which is probably Kenya’s most impressive waterfall. The town is around 2360m in altitude so has a wonderful climate with some nice forest trails. The falls were formed by the Ewaso Narok {river Narok}. The falls were named by joseph Thompson, he was the first European to walk from Mombasa to lake Victoria in the early 1880’s.The falls are about 72m deep and have a dense forest below which is always covered with a mist. A path of stone steps leads to the bottom of the ravine and is well worth a visit. There are also other walks to be done up and down stream from here. |
