The Stanley

As Kenya’s first luxury hotel, The Stanley was opened in the heart of Nairobi in 1902, and has since been an attraction to the rich, famous and many tourists.

Immediately you walk through the revolving doors into the Victorian foyer, you are drawn into a time-gone-by.

The luxurious rooms blend Victorian grandeur with the comfort and amenities of today. You can have a drink in the famous Exchange Bar – which is where the Nairobi Stock Exchange operated for 37 years from 1954. Wind down in the roof-top heated pool.

Have a bite to eat at the legendary Thorn Tree Cafe. An acacia guards the entrance and a message board has formed the centrepiece since 1959 (now also popularised by the Lonely Planet message board – the Thorn Tree).
